All I'm saying is that R.A.Salvatore played EQ1. Confirmed, interviewed and stupidly even put out his in-game name and server. (guessing he made a new guy after that)
This could be interesting.

Do you like Salvatore's books from the Forgotten Realms series? I never was a fan as much as Ed Greenwood - man that guy can weave a story like no other. I consumed every book he wrote about Elminster.

I liked a lot of Salvatore's books, but they got abit predictable. I'll agree Gerenwood is awesome however. I have all of the Elminster and love them. The last two though weren't my favorites. Elminster in Hell and Elminster's daughter... meh. They're just backstory for someone's campaign. You read anything since they jumped forward in forgotten realms? I haven't read or seen anything since they did it.

no didn't know they did it.. my favorite FR book is Spellfire and I think there was a sequel (been a while) and also the ones where Cyric takes over as the god of evil.. pretty crazy to see the mortal priest turned evil god ..

Crown of Fire or something was sequal... infact they did ANOTHER that I haven't read. So its officially a Trilogy..you know how they love their trilogies. That was the Waterdeep books I think..thatw as first one, thats awesome. It was a big game changing thing that they used the novelization to kick off. Thats the thing about FR, the big stories and plots are either worked into the DnD setting, or were made so tehy could CHANGE the DnD setting.

Ahh, yes, RA Salvatore, my first set from him was the Cleric Quintet - still heavily soaked in cigarette smoke from the person who sent them to me - lol. Also have (sadly, within arm's reach) Icewind Dale and Dark Elf trilogies. Don't think I read anything else of his. Of course, then there's David & Leigh Eddings' Belgariad set...

WOOT! I re-read Eddings ten books about Garion every year, and the two trilogies about Sparhawk, AND the incredibly awesome Redemption of Athalus.
I haven't read their latest ones though... I've heard bad things and just never worked up enthusiasm to.

For a while there I was getting virtually every book I could in the TSR world. Forgotten Realms, Dark Sun, Spelljammers, Krynn and anything else I could get my hands on. All the books are still in boxes from my last move but I may have to get em out now.
Salvatore is an automatic for me. Loved Cleric Quintet. Loved the dwarven druid when he called himself a Doodad (If I am remembering right)
Lot of good books out there. Started with the Pool of Radiance series because of the Gold Box games. And it grew from there.
Don't have the time to read now because if I did I would have to sacrifice work time, cause EQ is NOT an option!!!

oh man, dont' get me started on reading... I don't read like I use to, but still do it quite abit. I should start a separate thread to talk about books lol. Or if i really got going, would need a subforum.

Ditto here - use to like to read all the time, but now, just like Val, increasing reading means I'm not able to do the work I should be doing, because decreasing EQ is just so wrong - lol.
Back in the day, I was very much into reading JRR Tolkien, to include the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales and a sidelong glance at The Book of Lost Tales. I've read the Hobbit and LoTR multiple times over the years - at first, my goal was to read them every year, but that never happened. Last time I read LoTR was back in 2002. For those that may remember, Iron Crown Enterprises (ICE) came out with a D&D-like version of LoTR. Too bad I butchered up the modules for the maps, otherwise, they'd be in decent shape these days. The thing I like best about the modules was that it gave a more local flavor to some of the areas, giving a more in-depth view of places you never would have seen/read about in the books, or may have been mentioned in passing. In one of my boxes downstairs I think I still have them.
Over the past few years about all I have read is RA Salvatore and D & L Eddings, I still have the Rivan Codex to read - maybe some day - lol.
Hmm, Zyn, you might be on to something there with starting a whole subforum - lol

If you want to completely lose all free tim e, I have many many many MANY books and authors I can recommend. I read fantasy with some sci fi. My main thing I like is a sub-genre called Urban Fantasy.
Yeah.. this was derailed. I blame Wiz!
