Starting this thread to give all you storytellers a chance to entertain your fellow adventurers with tales of your adventures with a little role playing fun.

Not everyone will be into this but I miss doing this in the old days of Neverwinter Nights when AOL was not evil Smile Ok I still harbor just a smidge of resentment still.

What I plan to do myself is to try to turn some of the HQs we all love to do into stories that will hopefully entertain by reading but if you have not done them before may even be helpful in doing them.

Hopefully I won't be the only one and I do not mean to imply that this is only for HQs. Doing this for any series of quests or even an instance run such as CoA may be a fun topic.

Ideally I think this could be something that people would want to cut and paste to a file that you could look back on with nostalgia years from now when we are playing EQ29 and think "Wow, those were the good old days, weren't they?"

Ok I'm not delusional enough to believe all that will happen. I do hope that others will take this as a challenge to tell stories. If it takes off, maybe Wiz will be kind enough to set up a specific forum area for this.

Let the tales begin!!

I Remember When

As I sit here, I think back on all the adventures that been thrust upon me. Was it fate that put me on this path or did I subconsciously seek them? I suppose it was the latter. I was always curious as a young scout in the service of the Overlord in Freeport. I was always asking questions of all who would talk to me. And of course in order to eat, I always tried to do any tasks that they might give me. Yes, I think that is where it all began.

Whether killing rats in town or orcs in the Commonlands, it seemed that more and more I was destined to do great things. Well maybe not great things as such but my thirst for ever more challenging adventures grew. And as my interests grew I also began to see how people saw me and how they saw the world. As a citizen of Freeport I began to see it for what it really was. A den of evil where everyone simply want to have more than anyone else without any concern for the individual.

Maybe it was because of the company I kept on my adventures but I soon began to see that many individuals actually cared about the welfare of each other and even for those that were exploited by others, most notably by Freeport citizens. My opinion of the Overlord became tainted with doubts.

While on an extended adventure in the far off land of Antonica I started hearing tales of the legendary city of Qeynos. Their queen I was told was so loved by her people that they practically worshipped her. She was a great leader that inspired her subjects to help all who were in need and gave sanctuary to all that were of good alignment.

I started to have even more doubts about my loyalty to the Overlord and decided there must be something I could do about this. After many sleepless nights of conflicting emotions, I made the decision that I now realize was inevitable. I must forego my childhood home and move to this wondrous city of Qeynos.

This decision though painfully made was very difficult to do. To leave Freeport was almost unheard of. The enemies I mad in doing so haunt me still. But what I did not realize is that because of my association with Freeport. the people of Qeynos would not exactly welcome me with open arms.

I did finally come across some people that would help me earn the loyalty I so wanted to give. And after many weeks of doing various tasks, I eventually won over those who had distrusted me so much. I still feel like an outsider from time to time because as an Iksar I do tend to stand out among the populace of Qeynos. There will always be some distrust. But the queen herself has recognized some of my contributions to Qeynos, and though some distrust me and likely always will, there are many who actually welcome me into their homes or will buy me a drink at the local taverns.

Do I regret that I betrayed my childhood home and will never be welcome there? No. For now I have a home in Qeynos and my heart will always be there forever more!

I'm afraid I am growing tired now. Perhaps a little too much ale. In any case if you find me here in the future, perhaps I will tell you of some of my adventures. I've been told by many that I like to talk. Maybe a little too much. Perhaps I will sing a song of some Heroic Quest that I have done and of those who struggled with me against a dragon or some other great creature.

Fare thee well for now. We shall meet again if fate wishes it so.

Raiding with Wizairde

Aim at the huge dragon in front of you with your trusty bow. Fire when ready. Watch Wiz cut loose with all his fireworks. Rez Wiz, resume raid.

The End

P.S.
Bored at work and noticed I started this thread and no one has been telling stories. C'mon people this is the place to cut loose with those creative juices. Impress us with your story telling. Even if it is just to dramatize a fun HQ you did with 10 different alts. Oh wait only Lolase, E and I do that Smile Of course I am sure there are some budding Tolkien's or Burroughs out there who would just love to tell us of those strange worlds they dream of at night. Doesn't even have to be in the land of EQ. Make up stuff. Have fun.

The rumors are true!

The Order of the Golden Staff has already outgrown its mighty guild hall. This wondrous place has been home to the mighty OGS wizards and warriors for some time now but it is time to move forth to a new home. The new home will have to be much more defensible and although we hunted far and wide for this new place, it came down to two choices. One of these was an island overlooking the evil overking of Freeport and the other was another island, only this one was in sight of the fair city of Qeynos. The residents of the OGS hall seems to have favored staying in the proximity of Qeynos though clearly the island off of Freeport was the obvious choice. Oh well, I suppose that either place has its good and bad points but in either case, transportation to those far off lands of adventure are easily accessible by both.

I look forward to packing up my meager belongings and finding a new place in the new hall to hang my sword and armor. Of course I am sure Wiz will grab the nicest room for himself. He's like that you know. I'm sure I will be relegated to the basement somewhere. But at least it will be close to the docks under the keep.

I suppose I must be going now. Otherwise Wiz will make me clean up the old place so that we will get a good price for it when we sell it. Smile

*Tandra strolls into the Guild Hall pulling a cart of boxes pilled high*

“So Wiz you all packed? As you can see I am, I know you had your evil little heart set on the new digs being over in that dark dreary land of Freeport.”

*Tosses a comforting arm around him, while handing him a goblet filled to the rim*

“Just think of it this way, Qeynos has more troub…. I mean more min… hummm more dwarfs to toss. And look at all the space we will have. I know you took the largest room as you should” refilling the goblet, “So I’ll just take the next largest, you know how I am, I have so much stuff to haul around, a girl has to keep up appearances you know, and I promise that Rezplease will not make a mess and the Aquarium will be beautiful. We just need to make sure that Zynthar doesn’t make too much of a mess in his room with Singin. “

“Now just how many of those pillars do you need, ten or more, just let me know and I’ll whip them right up. Well I’m going to go over here and cook up some food for the movers, if you keep their bellies full they do a better job and will not break anything. And I’ll make sure there is plenty for the guild too, along with the GOOD spirits for us and the cheaper stuff for the movers, we will just give them a glass of the good in the beginning and after the first they will never know the difference. Just let me know what you want to eat and drink”

*Refills Wiz’s drink one last time as she heads toward the stove*

*Zynthar eagerly bounces into his new room. He looks around, picking out where to put all of his great stuff!*

"Oooh! I'll put my gigantic ice dragon THERE... and my super duper collection of action figures HERE... oh! And over there I can practice my fireball throwing!!"

*He happily tests out his aim on a pile of random things someone had left in HIS room.*
