|
Greetings,
This past Friday at approximately 10:30pm we (My mother, sister, and myself) had a very large fire within our home. There was a significant amount of damage sustained throughout the entire house, and we will not be living there for at least another 4 to 6 months.
It was a grease fire, something had caused some cooking oil to explode which instantly lit about half of our kitchen on fire. I was the only one home, and after contacting 911 had tried to save our dogs on the other side of the house. After several attempts at making it over there I wasn't able to as it got to the point where it was impossible to see, breathe, and stand the heat.
The only significant loss was all four of our dogs passed away from suffocation, two puppies and my cat survived. Being massive animal lovers, this is the source of most of the grief within our family. Everything in the kitchen is destroyed, along with the dining and living room, and a lot of things in our basement (There was a large amount of water that came through to the basement). A good half of the house is going to have to be rebuilt, and even though the fire was contained to our kitchen and dining area it was hot enough to melt objects on the opposite side of the house, so most of everything is going to need replaced.
The good thing is all of us are okay and no one was injured. While yes, we lost the dogs, we still have one another and that's what matters most. On top of that all of our sentimental objects are safe, including all of my instruments and scores, my mother's pictures, and various other things like that.
No word on when I will be back in game, my computer may have survived, I will be spending a few hours cleaning it if the power supply tests out and we'll see from there. Ceiling fell in on my monitor though and put a nice big gash in it xD
Hope all is well with everyone. Please remember to be thankful for everything you have. You never know when you're going to lose it.
Best of luck,
Joseph Serifino Forte

*sigh* I dunno what to say bro, other than I'm sorry - and I hope it gets cleaned up soon. I barely remember when our house caught on fire I was so young, but there was that overwhelming sense of being displaced for far too long.
You always have an anchor here - hope to see you in game soon.

Oh MY! I'm so sorry to hear that you have lost you animals! Being a animal lover I can truely understand your feelings about the loss of your tiny "extended family" I would be so lost if I lost my "Gummy Bear" (And I know it is coming he is slowing down from his age.
My family will keep you all in your prayers. Hopefly you will return to the game soon!

That's really rough. I went through that several years ago with the same cause.
Hang in there my friend!

So sorry for your loss. I know pets are more like family than not, so I am sure it is difficult for you and your family. Hope all goes well trying to restore things back to some sense of normalcy. My thoughts go with you as do my prayers.

Hello Joseph, I am very sorry for your loss of beloved pet's, and destruction the fire, and rescue efforts attempted to minimize damage done to your home. Your are correct in being thankful that none of the family was injured, other than your pet's. I will keep you all in my prayers.
Take your time bro, and assist your family in the rebuilding as best you can. OGS will always be here for you to return when possible. Take care of your RL issues, and we place candle in the window to guide you back to us during these dark times.
Ratticus/Prime - Jay
